To create an assessment that draws a random subset of questions from a larger pool of questions, follow the instructions below. Please note that all questions in a random block will have the SAME point value.

Once you have created or imported one or more question pools,

  1. In the Course Tools section of your site's Control Panel, click Tests, Surveys, and Pools and then choose Tests.
  2. Click Build Test.

  3. In the Test Info page, enter the test's name, description, and instructions and click Submit. You will see the Test Canvas page open.

  4. From the Reuse Question, drop-down menu, select Create Random Block. An Add/Edit Random Block page opens.

  5. Under Pool, select the test pool you would like to use.

  6. Scroll down. Under the Question types category, check the question types you wish to use. Then click Submit.

  7. Click the box to the right of Number of Questions to display: and enter the Number of questions to import. Then click Submit.

  8. Click the box to the right of Points per question: and enter the Points per question, and click Submit.

  9. Finally, click OK.
